I don’t necessarily get “Seasonal Affective Disorder,” at least in the sense that I don’t feel noticeably sadder in the wintertime. This is a good thing, as people who get sad in the winter should stay far, far away from Boston. Early January is a real bummer.
However, living in a dreary part of the country has given me a very deep appreciation for the first sign of a remotely nice day, and today was 55 and sunny. Honestly can’t ask for much more in March.
Going for a run in shorts and a t-shirt before St. Patrick’s Day is like winning $50 on a scratcher; it’s not life-changing, but it’s guaranteed to make your day. I did a 4.5 mile loop that took me around the reservoir near Boston College’s campus, and I snapped a few pics to share! There were real “spring is approaching” vibes, between the melting ice, the flocking geese, and all the other walkers and runners enjoying the day.
Here’s hoping that everyone reading this can look forward to a few nice days of their own in the near future.
Bonus Pic!
Three college basketball games playing at the same time, all in the fourth quarter, all within one point, all where the loser’s season is over. March truly is the best.
I was happy to see Wofford pull out the win and book a ticket to March Madness for the first time in six years - they’ve been my favorite Southern Conference team since the legend of Fletcher Magee.1
For the uninitiated, Magee was an insanely talented 3-point shooter, going as far as eliciting a declaration that “Fletcher Magee is NOT human” by famed broadcaster Kevin Harlan during March Madness (see the link).
My takeaway: I take Houston weather for granted! Gonna go on a run tonight.
